A measurement of the absolute BR(τ→h+h+h-ν)

Description

The authors use a large (2 fb-1) data sample, obtained with the CLEO-II detector at Cornell, to measure B(τ→h+h+h-ν), where h± refers to either π+- or K+-. They isolate events with three charged tracks in each hemisphere. Since the number of events is proportional to the square of the branching ratio, many systematic errors are reduced by a factor of two, yielding the most precise measurement of this decay mode to date
