Model analysis of damped systems for calculating oscillations of structures due to earthquake
Description
In the Federal Republic of Germany, buildings and components of nuclear power plants with high safety demands have to be designed for earthquake influences. Dynamic loads are considerably determined by damping effects. Based on modal analysis, several methods for formulating linear damping are compared. The accuracy of an approximate consideration of damping is checked by an example. (orig.)

Sicherheitstechnisch wesentliche Gebaeude und Anlagenteile von Kernkraftwerken in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland sind fuer Erdbebenwirkungen zu bemessen. Die dynamischen Beanspruchungen werden massgeblich durch Daempfungseinfluesse bestimmt. Verschiedene Moeglichkeiten zur Beschreibung linearer Daempfung werden im Rahmen der modalen Analyse verglichen. Anhand eines Beispiels wird die Genauigkeit einer angenaeherten Beruecksichtigung der Daempfung ueberprueft. (orig.)Additional details
