Laser spectroscopy of antiprotonic helium atomcules. Collisional shift and broadening of resonance lines

  • 1. Tokyo Univ. (Japan)

Description

Metastable antiprotonic helium atomcules were observed by laser spectroscopy. The results showed the resonance lines such as 597.259 and 470.724 nm caused by (n,l)=(39,35)→(38,34) and (37,34)→(36,33), respectively. Two values were modified to 597.2570±0.0003 nm and 470.7220±0.0006 nm in vacuum by determining under conditions of narrowing the band width of dye laser until 1 GHz and various densities and by calibrating the wave length by the standard absorption line of iodine and tellurium molecule. These values agrees closely with the theoretical values within 2 to 3 ppm reported by three groups. (S.Y.)
