Description
After having recalled the impact of the Three Mile Island plant accident on control and mitigation of severe accidents in nuclear power plants, this paper discusses several aspects of the accident management guidance (AMG) development program, along with a brief discussion of issues that will need to be addressed. After a general overview of the AMG process, the authors briefly report the generic AMG validation exercise which has been organized over three days. They discuss insights and lessons learned from this exercise and the relationship between the AMG's which concern the technical support centre, and the Emergency operation procedures (EOP's) which concern the control room operations. Finally, they comment a utility closure of the accident management issue
