Description
We consider the elastic scattering of the α+11C, 12C and 12C+ 24Mg reactions within the framework of the optical model with two small potentials in addition to the nuclear optical potential. In the surface region of the nuclear potential, the presence of the two small potentials creates a deepening, which shows similar coupling effects like that of coupled-channels and is shown to be taking into account this coupling. The effect of these additional potentials is discussed in terms of the interference between the internal and barrier waves that correspond to a decomposition of the scattering amplitude into two components, the inner and external waves. Excellent agreement between theoretical results and measured experimental data has been obtained by using this modified optical potential
