Growing and some properties of β-PbTeO3 monocrystals

Description
Monocrystals of β-PbTeO3 lead tellurite of tetragonal modification (a=5.323(2), c=11.950(8) A, sp. gr. 141md) have been prepared under conditions of gradual cooling of molten PbO-TeO2 mixtures. A reversible phase transformation was observed in crystals as a result of dielectric-, X-ray diffraction- and non-linear optical investigations at 530 K. It was concluded that β-PbTeO3 below the of phase transformation point is in a spontaneously polarized state
