Description
Capacity of Cyanex-272 / n-dodecane phase to extract U(VI) from HNO3 medium has been investigated. From 2 M HNO3, at saturation point, Cyanex-272 is ∼ 67% loaded. No third phase formation was observed at the saturation level. Different reagents were investigated for the back extraction of U(VI). Stripping with sodium acetate, acetic acid and sodium oxalate was found to be poor, whereas water could not strip U(VI) at all from the loaded Cyanex-272 phase. However, stripping with ammonium carbonate, sodium carbonate and oxalic acid was nearly quantitative. (author)
