Monitoring device for the feedwater temperature in nuclear power plants

Description

Purpose: To early detect the loss of feedwater heating troubles in BWR type reactors. Constitution: Thermometers are disposed to the upstream and downstream of a feedwater heater to always monitor the temperature difference therebetween. Then, if the temperature difference goes lower than a set value, that is, upon loss of feedwater heating accident, a signal is sent to a recycling flowrate regulator for reactor coolants to restrict the recycling flowrate. Further, a signal is simultaneously sent to control rod drives to insert a plurality of previously selected control rods, whereby the reactor power is reduced. (Ikeda, J.)
