Description
Simple model calculations indicate that it is physically reasonable to treat certain reactions as effective three-body problems despite their multiparticle character. Once the three-body model is set up, it is clear that the Faddeev or AGS formalism provides a description of the collision process. In applications, however, one faces a problem. For a given reaction it is possible to select the dominant three-cluster partition, but the explicit construction of the effective interactions is not feasible at present. Therefore one is forced to resort to model considerations. A model is described and numerical results are briefly discussed. (Auth.)
