Description

We have examined an apparent discrepancy between the predictions of chiral perturbation theory and the quark model in proton decay and found that the disagreement is resolved by taking into account a neglected diagram in the quark model. Our results increase the predicted rate for p → π0e+; in minimal SU(5) this increase leads to a discrepancy with experiment if Λsub(anti Manti S)=150 MeV. (orig.)
