In-111 labeled leukocyte imaging
Description
A review was made of 140 In-111 leukocyte images obtained in 134 patients. Out of 134 patients, 58 patients, including 44 transplant recipients, were immunocompromized. Eighty-one per cent of the patients had received antibiotics at the time of imaging. Abnormal uptake was observed in the abdomen in 52 patients, being attributable to abscess or inflammatory lesions in 60 %, non-infectious lesions in 33 %, and non-inflammatory lesions in 7 %. Grading based on the intensity of In-111 leukocyte uptake was incapable of distinguishing abscesses and the other processes. Immunosuppresion did not have any effect on the sensitivity and specificity of In-111 leukocyte imaging for inflammatory processes when antibiotics were given. (Namekawa, K.)
