Estimation of the outlooks for large-scale transmutation of fission-produced iodine

Description
To obtain data necessary for estimating 129I transmutation efficiency in nuclear reactors the effective neutron capture cross section on 129I isotope in neutral spectrum of the WWR-M reactor was determined. The calculated value of 129I capture cross section, averaged by neutron spectrum in beryllium reflector of the WWR-M reactor, made up 17.8±3.2 barn. On the basis of experimental data and estimations it was shown that in neutron flux 1014 1/(cm2 s) transmutation of iodine -129 loaded in the course of one year can amount to approximately 25%

С целью получения данных, необходимых для оценки эффективности трансмутации 129I в ядерных реакторах, определено эффективное сечение захвата нейтронов на изотопе 129I в нейтронном спектре реактора ВВР-М. Расчетное значение усредненного по спектру нейтронов в бериллиевом отражателе реактора ВВР-М сечения захвата 129I составило 17.8±3.2 барн. На основе экспериментальных данных и оценочных расчетов показано, что в потоке нейтронов 1014 1/(см2 с) трансмутация загруженного иода-129 за год может составить около 25%Additional details
