Description
Time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction has been used to investigate the magnetic behaviour of Y(Mn0.8Co0.2)2Si2 over the temperature range 10-355 K. The Y(Mn0.8Co0.2)2Si2 compound exhibits antiferromagnetic order of magnetic space group Ip4/m'm'm' below the Neel temperature TN ∝355 K, with a total moment μMn=1.99(1)μB at 10 K, and no evidence of a moment residing on the Co atoms.
