Oxidation of cyclopentadienyl compounds of uranium (IV) by molecular oxygen
Description
It was shown that tetracyclopentadienyluranium and tricyclopentadienyluranium chloride react at a high rate with 5 and 2 moles of oxygen, respectively, in the temperature range 223-288k, forming inorganic uranyl derivatives (for example, uranyl hydroxychloride) and conversion products of the cyclopentadienyl ligands: cyclopentadiene, cyclopentenone, and oxygen-containing polymer, and others. It was concluded that the process has a molecular mechanism. The oxidation products of organometallic compounds of uranium were identified by chemical reactions, elementary analysis, IR and UV spectroscopy, and gas-liquid chromatography
