Low-gain supply for FEU-84 for strong pulse signals
Description
Ionization calorimeters are widely used to study high-energy cosmic radiation. In the energy range of 1013-1014 eV, hundreds of thousands of particles pass through the individual detectors of the ionization calorimeter and initiate strong light flashes in the scintillators; to achieve the required amplitudes, the photomultiplier can have low gain (≅200).A circuit for a louvered FEU-84 is described that provides with low gain (≅200) in the pulse mode a linear light response for a current of up to 4 mA. The photomultiplier is supplied by a divider with a total resistance of 25-30 M Omega, to which -(900-1100) V is applied
