A determination of the stability quotient for the formation of a tris(carbonato)plutonate(VI) complex in aqueous solution
Description
Qualitative evidence for the identification of plutonium(VI)-carbonato complexes, and attempts to determine the composition and stability of such species, have been published. The later investigators utilized measurements by acolligative property (solubility) which gives rise to a degree of ambiguity in the interpretation of the results. A spectrophotometric procedure is used here to study the association between Pu(VI) and carbonate ions in basic solutions to more clearly delineate the salient equilibria. (author)
