Radiation effects on the properties of polystyrene ion exchanger [Paper No. RD-28]
Description
Capacity and moisture content of weak base anion exchanger (Tulsian A-2X) in chloride, bromide and iodide forms decreased progressively due to radiation treatment given upto 1 MGy dose. With I- on the resin and a halide in solution the values for distribution coefficient are in the order Br- > Cl- > I-, which decrease upon irradiation. Self-diffusion coefficient of I-ion at 303 K decreases from 2.47 x 10-11 to 0.72 x 10-11 m2s-1 when the resin is irradiated with 0.35 MGy dose. (author)
