Genfit: a general least squares curve fitting program for mini-computer
Description
Genfit is a basic data processing program, suitable for small on line computers. In essence the program solve the curve fitting problem using the non-linear least squares method. A data set consisting of a series of points in X-Y plane is fitted to a selected function whose parameters are adjusted to give the best fit in the least squares sence. Convergence may be accelerated by modifying (or interchanging) the values of the constant parameters in accordance with results of previous calculations

GENFIT e um programa basico de processamento de dados apropriado para pequenos computadores atuais. Em essencia, o programa resolve o problema de ajuste de curvas, utilizando o metodo de minimos quadrados nao-linear. Um conjunto de dados, que consiste numa serie de pontos no plano X-Y, e ajustado por uma funcao selecionada, cujos parametros fornecem o melhor ajuste possivel no criterio de minimos quadrados.
