Estimation of Ga and In in uranium after chemical separation by ICP-AES and ETA-AAS techniques

Description
A solvent extraction technique using 30% TBP in CCl4 has been employed to quantitatively separate uranium from sample solution and subsequent estimation of Indium and Gallium by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) atomic emission spectrometry and Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometric techniques (GF-AAS). Several uranium samples containing In and Ga in the 200 ppm to 30,000 ppm have been analysed and the results obtained are in good agreement with the expected value within ± 5 %. The method is useful to estimate Ga and In from ppm to % level with proper dilution and appropriate sample size. (author)
