F-center optical absorption in alkali halides

Description
The transition energies of F-centers for six alkali halides are calculated with the point-ion approximation and the ion-size correction. We show the correct expression of the energy functional for the Gourary and Adrian wave function of type II. We compare our results with other works and find that they do not differ by more than 13% from the experimental results, except for LiI, with α = 0.53 (Author)
