Electron capture from pair production at 11 GeV/nucleon

Description

Capture from pair production is the only known electron capture process which has no electron in the initial state. It is an important process at relativistic energies, and in fact its magnitude is expected to become comparable to those of other capture processes at about 10 GeV/nucleon and to exceed them at higher energies. The authors performed an experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory's AGS using 11 GeV/u Au79+ on a variety of fixed targets. Results from this experiment, along with results from previous experiments at 1 GeV/u, will be presented
