Galactography: diagnostic procedure for today's radiologist

Galactography of the breast is an under used procedure that often helps define the cause of unilateral and spontaneous nipple discharge. Ductography (Galactography) allows diagnosis of the underlying pathologies, definition of the extent of disease, identification of central and peripheral lesions and guidance for surgical excision. Some radiologist maintains that galactography is difficult and time-consuming to perform. however, radiologists who learn the technique of ductography will improve their interdisciplinary approach to this important sign in cancer. Once fundamental ductography steps are learned, the procedure is easy to perform. We describe galactography's technique and provide basics cognositive elements for successful ductography.
