Description
A computer code PRESS has been developed, to analyse the pressuriser transients, based on a detailed thermodynamic non-equilibrium model. The mass exchange across the interface between the water and steam is by bubble rise and/or condensate drop models. The code has been validated against the measured data on the pressuriser of the Shipping Port Nuclear Power Plant. Using the code, transient analysis has been carried out for the pressuriser of the proposed 500 MWe pressurised heavy water reactor for some of the anticipated transients. These studies have been carried out to arrive at the required capacities and operational set points of the electrical heaters and steam bleed valves, which are provided for pressure regulation. The present paper describes in brief the code and results of the transient analysis. (author). 9 refs., 7 figs
