Image quality factors of radiography with track-etch detectors
Creators

Description
The performance of SSNTD-s for radiographic imaging was considered in terms of three main image quality factors, contrast or gradient of detector, image unsharpness and detail discernment. The image quality factors were determined from the radiographic transfer function. Experimental and theoretical investigations indicate that optimum image quality is obtained with an exposure value close to 1. In this context exposure is defined as the product of surface track density and average track area. To prove this statement in a more quantitative way, a figure of radiographic merit is defined and its dependence on exposure is analyzed. (author)
