Nature of thermally induced ions-radicals in gamma-irradiated barium dithionate
- 1. Inst. fizika-arganichnaj khimii, Natsyyanal'naya akadehmiya navuk Belarusi, Minsk (Belarus)
Description
Physical and chemical properties of gamma-irradiated barium dithionate in temperature range of 40-80 Celsius degree were investigated by means of ESR and infrared spectroscopy. It was shown that at decomposition of the substance the thermally induced ion-radicals of two kinds were formed. They are interpreted as SO3- (g1=2,0049, g2=2,0034) and SO2- (g1=2,0107, g2=2,0066, g3=2,0034). Heterogeneous phase BaSO3/BaSO4 is considered as stabilizing one. The top limit of using of barium dithionate as dosimeter is 40 Celsius degree
