Knock-on electron emission in relativistic ion-atom collisions
Creators
- 1. Lawrence Berkeley National Lab., CA (United States)
Description
The authors used the Advanced Positron Spectrometer to measure the energy distribution and the angular distribution as well as the total cross section for knock-on electrons emitted during the collision of relativistic heavy ions with atomic targets. The measurements using U92+ and La57+ projectiles in a 1 GeV/nucleon range were performed at the Bevalac at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory while the measurements using 11 GeV/nucleon Au79+ ions were performed at the AGS accelerator at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Results for singly and doubly differential cross sections for various targets will be presented
