Physical properties of Ba1.09V8O16 with hollandite structure
Description
Several vanadium compounds AxV8O16 are known to belong to the hollandite family. We have investigated the temperature variations of the resistivity and magnetic susceptibility for some of them (A=Bi,Ba,Pb), which show non-stoichiometry in composition x (1.60<x<1.80 for Bi, 1.35<x<1.8 for Pb and x=1.09, 1.2<x<1.36 for Ba), resulting in a wide variety of their physical properties depending on x. Ba hollandite occurs no remarkable transitions, while its susceptibility was enhanced in compared with usual Pauli paramagnetic compounds
