Isotope effects in the deuteron breakup reaction on heavy nuclei

Description

The differential cross sections for disintegration of 13.6 MeV deuterons on 197Au, 207Pb, and 208Pb nuclei have been measured for proton detection angles of 40 deg and 70 deg. The results of the measurements are compared with those of the calculations carried out within the framework of the Landau-Liphshitz theory, taking account of neutron-nucleus interaction in a final state. When protons are detected at an angle of 70 deg, differences in the cross sections can be observed (in the case of two lead isotopes- the isotopic effect). The cross sections have the highest values for a doubly magic 208Pb nucleus
