Longer term potential : an exploration view

A series of overhead viewgraphs accompanied this presentation which discussed the challenges associated with finding good exploration prospects. Some important issues to consider when exploring for new pools in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) are the maturity of the Basin and the future regional focus within the Basin. The WCSB has more proved reserves than any other basin in North America (76 Tcf). It was shown that at current production rates, the Basin has 33 years of remaining undiscovered reserve potential. The pool distribution of undiscovered marketable gas potential was illustrated. Viewgraphs depicting exploration activity in the Wildcat Hills and Benjamin Creek were also included.
