Dynamics of the coupled quark and hadronic channels
Description
An extensive and detailed exposition is given of a new approach to the hadron-hadron dynamics at intermediate energies (√s<several GeV) based on the inclusion of the quark compound bag (QCB) channels and the Jaffe-Low P matrix analysis. Two alternative methods are used: (1) the coupled QCB-hadrons channel formalism and (2) a nuclear-cluster-type approach, to derive essentially analogous final equations. The connection between P-matrix and S-matrix poles and between P-matrix poles and QCB eigenvalues is studied. The quark contents (i.e. the QCB percentage) of any quark-hadronic state can be defined unambigously and is shown to be around 15% for the deuteron and of the order of 50% for nuclear matter. Some recent results of the P matrix analysis are reviewed together with a new analysis of the S wave NN scattering. A conclusion is made, that the QCB states, even if wide and not seen as resonances, play a dominant role in the dynamics of hadrons at intermediate energies
