Lessons learned from the development of the Susquehanna PRA
Description
This paper summarizes the development of the Susquehanna Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) and presents significant lessons learned by Pennsylvania Power and Light Company (PPandL) in that process. Included are discussions on the PRA initiation, the PPandL philosophy on PRA, the internal review process, the plans for public release, and future activities and applications. The key factors affecting the scope and direction of the PRA are discussed in each section. Then the major lessons that were learned are summarized at the end. In addition, several conclusions are offered based on experiences and desires to maintain the Susquehanna PRA as a useful engineering tool
