Inhomogeneity in distribution of basic elements and impurities in W-Ni-Fe powder alloys

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukrainian SSR). Inst. Problem Materialovedeniya

Description

Peculiarities in manifestation of inhomogeneity in distribution of basic components and admixtures in the heterogeneous alloy sintered in the presence of a liquid phase are studied. Inhomogeneous distribution of structural components is specified by a migration of the melt on the base of nickel, formation of conglomerates of a refractory component. A distribution pattern of the basic elements and admixtures is determined by a possibility of these elements to decrease surface energy of the nickel melt as well as to form equilibrium segregations in the boundary volumes of solid solutions on the basis of nickel and tungsten. Surface-active admixtures promote a formation and stabilization of pores in Ni-melt, affect chemical composition of the grain boundaries in the melt W-Ni-Fe, deformation failure and properties of the latter
