Validation of geochronological models to estimate sediment accumulation rate in Mumbai Harbor
- 1. Health Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Study of geochemical behavior of naturally occurring radionuclides deposited along with sediment, yields considerable insight into the transport of pollutants from watershed to surface water. The objective of the current study is to critically validate mathematical models which have been used to calculate sedimentation rate( SR) based on 210Pb profiles. The selection and use of the specific model is based on the nature and constancy of the activity and sediment accumulation
