Model of cyclic inelastic flexural behaviour of reinforced concrete members

Description

Reinforced concrete (RC) structures are commonly used in nuclear power plants to provide housing, shielding and support of essential equipment. Increased concern about the safety of such plants in the event of a strong motion earthquake has directed greater attention to studying the hysteretic behaviour of these structures under cyclic loading. This paper presents a practical mathematical model for predicting the hysteretic behaviour of critical regions (plastic hinges) in RC flexural members designed by using current seismic code provisions (UBC or ACI).
