Description
At present nine irradiation plants with source strengths varying from 104 to 3x105 Ci of 60Co are operating in India with excellent safety record. However, a few incidents related to plant component failures have occurred in these plants and these are discussed in this paper. Seven cases of accidental exposure in gamma irradiation plants reported abroad are also analysed. An organisational structure for safe operation of the plant is suggested. (author). 1 fig., 1 tab
