Structures of exotic neutron-rich nuclei

  • 1. Tokyo Institute of Technology, Dept. of Physics, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

With the advent of the radioactive (RI) nuclear beams, the study of nuclei located far from the stability has become one of the high lights of the modern nuclear physics. We discuss the characteristic features of the exotic neutron-rich nuclei, such as neutron halo and skin nuclei, which are very different from the standard nuclei. In particular, the Coulomb dissociation of the halo nuclei is discussed in detail by showing the experimental results on 11Be, 19C and 15C. The future perspective on the physics of the RI beam is also presented. (author)
