The application of co-axial thermocouples in the SOMITE facility

  • 1. UKAEA Risley Nuclear Power Development Labs.

Description

The use of the SoMITE Facility to carry out metallurgical tests on stainless steel and other material specimens is described. The specimens were subjected to high frequency random temperature shocks, which were measured by co-axial thermocouples. The method of processing the signals and presenting the data obtained is described. The advantage of co-axial thermocouples compared with conventional thermocouples and their performance over a long operational period is discussed. (author)
