Curvatures and membrane stresses in pressure vessel heads

In this paper, the membrane stresses induced in axisymmetrical shells subjected to internal loading are analyzed in the light of curvatures. This approach enables a deeper understanding of the subtle relationships of the generator, the shape of the surface thus generated, and the membrane stresses. Some common pressure vessel heads are used to demonstrate the present analysis
