Maximum overspeed calculations for nuclear power plant turbines after sudden load rejection

The problem of determining the maximum overspeed of saturated steam turbines after sudden full load rejection is discussed. The assumptions and concepts of two essential groups of methods of overspeed calculations are compared. A more general approach is utilized for the verification of some assumptions and parameter values of simplified methods. The computation results of a sudden load rejection process obtained with the use of both discussed groups of methods are compared. (author)
