The Long-Range Master Plan for Defense Transuranic Waste Management is designed to serve as a framework for US Department of Energy (DOE) defense transuranic (TRU) waste management planning in the transition period from interim management to permanent disposal. It is an integrated plan, placing activities at the several sites on a common schedule with balanced total budget demands. It is a comprehensive plan, covering research and development, analysis, decisionmaking, facility design and construction, operations, and decommissioning for all aspects of TRU waste management. The Master plan documents goals and objectives, identifies major milestones, and identifies key decisions
