Description
Currently in Korea, there are 20 nuclear power plants either in construction or in operation. It is important for nuclear industry to start to think about nuclear materials in use in order to improve the safety on nuclear power generating installations, reduce the cost of plant constructions, and promote indigenous materials and equipment. This paper will describe the status of materials presently in use in steam generator, piping, and pump and introduce the examples of major equipment defects and advanced materials development activities in foreign developed countries. Finally the paper will propose likely directions for further study on materials needed domestically. (Hong, J. S.)
