X-versus y-scaling in non-relativistic deep inelastic scattering
Description
It is shown, in the context of non-relativistic potential scattering, that the appropriate scaling variable for the deep inelastic region is not the usual Bjorken one x sub(Bj) = Q2/2 Mν but instead, the variable y=(2mν-q2 sup(→))/2q. The y-scaling is shown to be obtained in a natural way by using the WKB approximation. Numerical results are presented comparing the approach to scaling in terms of x sub(Bj) and y. (Author)

Mostra-se que, no contexto do espalhamento nao relativistico por potencial, a variavel de 'scaling' apropriada para a regiao profundamente inelastica nao e a usal de Bjorken, x sub(Bj) = Q2/Mν, mas a variavel y=(2mν-q2 sup(→))/2q. Mostra-se tambem que o 'scalling' em y pode ser obtido de maneira natural, fazendo uso da aproximacao WKB. Apresenta-se ainda resultados numericos que permitem comparar a aproximacao ao 'scalling' em termos de x sub(Bj) e y. (Autor)Additional details
