Cooling with superfluid helium

Creators

Description

The properties are briefly outlined of superfluid helium and the relationships are given describing heat transfer in the helium. Instructions are presented for coarse control of electromagnet cooling with superfluid helium at normal pressure, and some experimental results are shown of measuring short-term thermal load of cooled surfaces. A helium II cooling circuit is described. The stabilization capability at short-term thermal load of a cooled surface was assessed from experimentally obtained relations between the heat flux density and the time till surface boiling onset.
