Study of the evaporation in Costa Rica and its application to determine the beginning and conclusion of the dry and rainy season

Description

The fluctuations of evaporation and daily precipitation in the different Climatic Regions of Costa Rica were analyzed. The FAO Penman-Monteith method was used to calculate the evaporation series. The evaporation series were validated with the data obtained in the Type A evaporation tank. The pentadal evaporation thresholds for each meteorological station were defined. The graphical pentadas that contain the series of evaporation and precipitation were analyzed obtaining the thresholds for the dry and rainy periods of each climatic region, varying according to geographical location. A summer strictly defined as a dry season was found only in the Valle Central and the Pacifico Norte
