A note on Alfven solitons
Description
The properties of Alfven solitons have been analyzed by explicitly solving the eigenvalue problem of the Kaup-Newell inverse scattering transformation scheme for an initial sech-type pulse. It is shown that an initial pulse of amplitude A0, width D, and modulation wave number, K0, gives rise to n-solitons, where n is an integer satisfying the condition (K0/8)1/2 A0D > n. (author)
