Description

The basic requirement specification has essential importance for the design of safety I and C for upgrading projects as well as for new plants. Main input for the basic requirement specification is the result of the analysis of design basis accidents and anticipated operational transients as well as of general design features from the plant design. For an optimised design process of the safety I and C in the same way as for the operational I and C it is essential to verify the overall plant behaviour together with the I and C functions as early as possible during project execution. The development of the advanced system platform TELEPERM XS for implementation of safety I and C systems opens the possibility to analyse transients of accidents and anticipated operational occurrences by means of a plant simulation code and link to the same I and C software code which will be loaded to the I and C target system. By application of this means the engineering step of requirement capture is systemised. This engineering principle ensures that the specified safety functions - are suitable to cope with the complete scope of design basis accidents and anticipated operational transients, - are optimised with respect to plant safety and availability, - will be implemented completely into the I and C safety target system so that - design errors during subsequent design phases are very unlikely.
