Description

Although some variational calculations have been carried out a long time ago on the three-nucleon system, the actual solutions with complicated realistic two-nucleon interactions have been achieved quite recently. The main reasons for this are that on the one hand there existed no correct mathematical framework of the problem until the work of Faddeev, and on the other hand new computational techniques were needed to solve the resulting three-body equations. Here we would like to review one kind of computational method which has proven to be successful. (author)
