Influence of ionizing radiation at the dose of 0.75 Gy on ultrastructure and functional activity of thyroid C-cell in rats
- 1. NDYi Medichnoyi Radyiologyiyi, Kharkyiv(Ukraine)
Description
The study involved 24 Wistar male rats exposed to fractional x-ray radiation at the total dose of 0.75 Gy. Thyroid C-cell ultrastructure was studied using standard techniques of electron microscopy, blood calcium amount was determined using complex technique. Thyroid C-cells respond to irradiation at the dose of 0.75 Gy by early de granulation accompanied by increase in protein synthesis followed by accumulation of secretory grains against the background of de granulation activation. The exposure is followed by considerable increase of the number of rats with decreased serum calcium concentration at the 7th and 30-th days
