Electromagnetic properties of high spin states

Creators

Description

The development of suitable experimental methods, which exploit the heavy ion beam capabilities of the UNILAC accelerator at Darmstadt, opened up the possibility to measure electromagnetic properties of short-lived high spin states. The implications of recent results obtained for static magnetic dipole and E2-transition moments on our present understanding of the structure of the yrast states of deformed rare earth nuclei are discussed.
