Chain radiation-induced oxidation of Fe(2) in sulfuric acid in the presence of phosphinic acid
Description
Radiation-induced transformations of Fe(2) ions in Fe(2) + O3 + NaH2PO2 system in sulfuric acid (0.4 mol/l) are studied. It is ascertained that the process proceeds following the chain mechanism. Radiochemical yield of Fe(3) grows as the concentration of phosphinate and molecular oxygen increases and it decreases as Fe(2) concentration goes up, and does not depend on a dose rate. The mechanism of chain process is discussed
